Synopsis:
Cissy is just your

Wow! Done Deal was a
remarkable, amazing book that I will never be able to do justice with
just this review. Done Deal is, without a single doubt, the very best
book I've read all year. And I've read quite a few!
Normally, I dislike leaving five star reviews because no one reads them or appreciates them but the author. Other readers and bloggers are distrustful and suspicious of the honesty in a gushing five star review but please believe me when I say, this book deserves every one of those stars and more.
Done Deal is a beautifully written and emotionally charged novel that grabs you from the very first line. "A person's wealth is not measured by the money or the material things they leave behind. It's the richness of who they are and their passion for life that makes them priceless."
In this book we meet Cissy. But we don't just meet her. We get to know her. And love her and all of her amazing friends and family. In the beginning of the book, Cissy is diagnosed with a very aggressive form of lung cancer. It's a really hard book to read at times because it's such a tear jerker. You have to read along as this beautiful carefree woman with such an amazing zest for life struggles to compete with such a debilitating disease. Cissy's positive attitude and determination to never give up are awe inspiring. I loved Cissy's optimism. Instead of wallowing in self pity and whys or well deserved depression and despair, Cissy decides to face her diagnosis head on with the realization that she has been granted an opportunity that most are not afforded. She has been granted time. Time to tie up loose ends and create her own closure. And boy does Cissy use that time to her advantage!
This is not the first book I've read by Rene D. Schultz and true to form she has provided us with a first rate cast of characters. Every one of them as great and well written as the last. Cissy is provided with the best support system anyone in her situation could ask for. She has her amazing sons Stephen and Ryan who are always there to help her in any way they can or just indulge a whim. She has her amazing friends Meg and Kate who have been her friends for many years and turn out to be her rocks and exactly what the doctor ordered on many occasions. And speaking of doctors, I love Dr. Sarah. God forbid I ever find myself having to walk a mile in Cissy's shoes, I can only hope that there will be a Dr. Sarah out there for me.
I realize that I'm making this book sound tragically depressing. It's not. It's full of love and hope and laughter and friendship. If you loved Firefly Lane, you will LOVE Done Deal. This book isn't about disease or death. It's about life. It's about fighting the good fight. It's about Cissy's legacy.
Obviously, I could write a book about this book lol. I won't bore you with any more but I will say one last thing. Rene D. Schultz is a truly talented writer. If you never read another book, read this one.
