Cursed and Possessed Double Cover Reveal and Giveaway!

Cursed (The Thorne Trilogy Book I)
by R.K. Ryals

Cover by Eden Crane Designs

Synopsis:
A grimoire. A witch. A Demon.

Ellie Elizabeth Jacobs, often known as Monroe due to her fascination with vintage attire and old movies, is an 18 year-old witch and a darned good one! But there is also something very wrong with her. Demonic energy makes her powers stronger, she has the ability to ward off Demons, and Lucifer wants her.

Sometimes being bad is better. Or at least that's how Luther "Thorne" Craig feels. The hybrid Demon son of the cursed Cain and the Demon Lilith, Luther is reluctantly sent to New Orleans, Louisiana by his brother, the hybrid Demon ruler of the Outer Levels of Hell, to protect Monroe from Lucifer's searching Hellhounds.

But what happens when things go wrong?

In this riveting spin off from R.K. Ryals' Redemption series, Monroe is faced with an old grimoire, an ancient curse, and a journey to discover a family secret that may surprise them all.

Excerpt:
"Can I see that?" NeeCee asked suddenly, and I looked up to find her standing over me, her hand outstretched, her gaze on the grimoire.
I narrowed my eyes. "Why?"
NeeCee sighed. "I think I know something that may help you."
I felt myself start to panic and tamped it down. The only thing worse than dust (I'm a slight neat freak) was Bernice's gift for inadvertently abusing magic.
"I don't know "
"Oh for God's sake!" NeeCee said irritably before snatching the book out of my hand.
I tried grabbing for it and failed.
"NeeCee ..." I warned.
She ignored me, dancing around different glass displays, her eyes on the book. She was naturally clumsy, but inside a store she'd practically been born into, she had the grace of a gazelle. It worked against me.
She paused abruptly, twisting so that her stomach was against a display of dried herbs, her index finger moving down a page. The display between us was too thick for me to see the parchment clearly, and I started edging toward her, my heart beating fast.
"NeeCee ..." I warned again, my teeth gritted.
She grinned. "Look! It's a reversal spell. This could help, you know. And it's simple."
She lifted a candle from a cabinet behind her and lit it. It was black.
Crap!
I blew the wick out.
"No!" I cried. "There is no way in hell I am letting you perform anything on me. Understand?"
Bernice frowned, her forehead creased. "You really have that little confidence in me?"
I could hear the hurt in her voice, and I felt a pang of sympathy. Truly I did, but I wasn't about to let it affect my judgment.
"I have plenty of confidence in you, NeeCee, but these are old spells. They are unpredictable. Extremelyunpredictable."
Bernice lit the candle again and moved it behind her, her finger trailing the page. She turned, facing me.
"Quae mea tua sunt, tua mea sunt quid . . ." she proceeded stubbornly, her chin raised, her eyes large and confident behind her spectacles.
The words were Latin. I recognized them instantly and cringed, jumping onto the display case, my blue dress riding all the way up to my hip. At this point, I didn't give a flip if a customer came in right now and got an eye full of my black low-rise panties. I just wanted the dead blasted grimoire.
"NeeCee, no!" I shouted, just as the black candle behind her exploded, ebony wax falling onto the wooden surface around it.
I covered my face, but even though the blast sounded loud inside the store, there was no collateral damage. The only outwardly disturbing sign was a small, perfect wax circle made of six black spots on the worn wood around the scarlet glass candleholder. I winced. Bernice froze.
"NeeCee," I whispered.
"Yeah?" she muttered.
I stared at the ruined workstation as the grimoire fell to the floor at Bernice's feet. "That wasn't a reversal spell."

Possessed (The Thorne Trilogy Book II)
by R.K. Ryals
Cover by Eden Crane Designs
Expected Release – November, 2013

Synopsis:
Calling a Demon forth wasn’t the wisest thing the Ayer’s witches have ever done.  For centuries, the Ayers have been slaves of the Demon Lilith, one Ayers witch destined to do her will while another was sacrificed to the Hunters. But Monroe Jacobs has changed the rules …
A witch from the Ayers' line, Monroe’s powers have always been connected to Demons and now she knows why. Once a slave to Lilith, she has thrown off her blood ties to the Demon queen by calling on her son, the hybrid-Demon, Luther. Now Monroe must discover what it means to be a witch while fighting off demonic possession.
For Luther “Thorne” Craig, his attraction to the witch, Monroe, isn’t just a complication, it’s a distraction. He’s always been happy with his life, serving the denizens of Hell while living flamboyantly, but now he’s declared war on his mother and Lilith won’t rest until she sees him dead.
Armed with her own book of shadows, Monroe is dragged into a civil war between mother and son while Luther fights his demonic need to truly possess her.

Excerpt:
"You should cast spells skyclad," he murmured.
A flush worked its way up my neck, the image of me unclothed inside a circle stark in my head. I'd never done a spell skyclad. Even my initiation had been done fully clothed.
I glared at him. "You're right. You are a monster."
He chuckled. "Be bad for me, witch. You might find you like it."

Home Matters by Julie N. Ford

According to her mother, Olivia Pembroke was born to be a star. But how is she supposed to be famous when she can't even get a decent acting gig? Her lucky break comes when she lands an audition for a wildly popular home improvement show. Even though she has no design training and has never even held a power tool, she refuses to let that stop her. She's confident that her destiny is finally within reach.

When her affections are torn between her heartthrob co-host and the irritating, yet somehow endearing lead contractor, does she continue to reach for the stars? Or does she design a new happily ever after? One that leads not to the fading lights of fame and fortune, but to a love that will burn forever.

Silver Linings by Kaylee Baldwin

Drew Westfall wants nothing more than to forget what he had to do in the name of "smart" business. Cutting off all ties with his parents—including handing over the entire contents of his trust fund to a charity—he takes off for Bridger, Colorado where his best friend has an extra room for him. It doesn't take long for him to realize that his business degree won’t do him much good in a town as small as Bridger, but he's broke and has nowhere else to go.

Eden Torresi has every reason to wallow. Not only did she lose her mother, but she had to drop out of nursing school and is in a relationship with a guy unwilling to commit. But Eden isn't the wallowing type. Instead, she chooses to spend most of her time taking care of the seniors at Silver Linings Nursing home. When she learns that her boyfriend's new roommate is down on his luck, her caring nature makes her want to reach out to him and offer what help she can. But the more time they spend together, the more complicated things get, especially when the seniors of Silver Linings decide to play matchmaker.

Righting a Wrong by Rachael Anderson

Seven years ago, Cambri Blaine fled her small hometown of Bridger, Colorado after her senior year ended in a fiasco. Only Jace Sutton knew the real reason why—that she was a spineless coward. Now, seven years later, her father's been in an accident and needs help, and Cambr has no choice but to return home. So with trepidation, she takes a leave of absence from the landscape architecture firm where she works and boards a plane, hoping against hope that Jace is no longer around and that the past can stay where it belongs—in the past.

If only life worked that way.

Jace never expected to see Cambri again. After she’d led him on, bruised his heart, and left town without a backward glance, he was forced to pick up the pieces and try not to hate her for it. Eventually, he put it behind him and moved on, creating a life for himself in his beloved hometown. But now that Cambri is back and looking more beautiful and sophisticated than ever, some of those old feelings resurface, and Jake instinctively knows, for the sake of his heart, that he needs to avoid her at all costs.

If only it were that easy.

Lost and Found by Karey White

Lydia was supposed to have an adventurous and exciting summer. Instead she's done nothing more than read and eat takeout. Now it's time to go home, and what does she have to show for it? A big fat nothing. Unless, of course, her trip to the airport somehow turns into something more than just a flight home.

Blake feels like he's been sent on a wild goose chase. While work is piling up back in Denver, he's on the other side of the country, hunting for some mysterious box that his grandfather left him. Well, no more. Nothing inside that box could possibly be more important than the opportunity to make it as the youngest partner at his firm. So he's going home, and that's that. But that's before he discovers his flight has been cancelled.

When these two strangers meet at the airport, they make a split-second decision to search for the box together. Maybe with both of them on the hunt, Lydia can have her adventure and Blake can find the box. And maybe, if they’re lucky, they’ll even find some romance.

Francie will have to put aside her hurt and insecurities or risk her dreams, while Alex must look outside himself if he’s to mend the breach with his daughter. And, perhaps, find someone who can help heal his pain.

My Review:

4 Star Rating!

**I received a free e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**

Cherry Tart by Scarlett Jade is a raunchy little tale about a confident young woman, who happens to be a plus sized stripper. Cherry has taken her life into her own hands. Scorned, she builds walls to protect herself from ever getting hurt again. What she doesn't realize is that she's also hurting the people around her while at the same time never allowing  herself to see the good in men.

This one is a real page turner. It's loaded with steamy scenes, and some truly funny moments. From the second you pick it up you won't want to put it down. I read it cover to cover in one day. It was that good!  Cherry Tart is a wonderfully written story about a woman who isn't afraid to be herself. And who loves the skin she's in!

Review of "Unspoken (Woodlands #2)" by Jen Frederick (Review by Sparkles)

Unspoken (Woodlands #2)
By Jen Frederick

 A Y/A CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

NOW AVAILABLE AT AMAZON AND B&N!

Synopsis:

Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.

I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?

He's everything I shouldn't want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren't the danger to me, though, it's his charm. He's sliding his way into my heart and I'm afraid that he's going to be the one to break me.

Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.

I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.

She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't.

My Review

5 Star Rating!

*I received a free e-book copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I absolutely loved this book! WAY more than I expected to. The storyline is interesting and serious enough to keep you reading but the author throws in these laugh out loud moments that take it from a good book to a great book.

My absolute favorite part of Unspoken, without a doubt, was the characters. They are sooo well written. You have AM who is just trying to survive the daily nightmare that college has become for her. There is plenty of opportunity for us to consider her weak with all the hiding she does but it's so obvious that she isn't. The author gives her an underlying strength and confidence that are impressive to say the least.

Then there is AM's best friend and roommate, Ellie. Why can't we all have friends like Ellie? She is fun and kind and fiercely loyal. What she lacks in size, she more than makes up for in heart.

Next comes Bo. OMG Bo! The instant we were introduced to Bo he became my new book boyfriend. He is, by far, the most perfect male lead I've read about in a long time. Maybe EVER!

And because the cast of characters isn't perfect enough already, Jen Frederick throws in some other gems for you with an outstanding cast of secondary characters including Ryan, Sasha, Noah, the Woodland boys, and Bryan among others. All awesome and all loyal to a fault. When you put them all together you have literary gold.

I said it in the beginning and I will say it again. I LOVED Unspoken! It was a great mix of drama, laugh out loud funny, and pure sexy deliciousness. I didn't even touch on the HOT factor in this review but trust me...It's HOT! I have already recommended it to everyone I know and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Do yourself a favor and go get this book! You will not regret it!

Review for "Fire (Elements of Power #1)" by Heather James (Review by Sparkles)

Fire
by Heather James

NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON AND B&N!

Synopsis:

Is control over the elements a gift, or a curse?

Roxy thinks that she is in control of everything: with flames flaring at her fingertips and an equally fiery attitude, what more could she need? But then she meets Brae, a prince from a rival Realm, who turns her assumptions of superiority upside down.

Jasmine has none of Roxy’s confidence or intensity. But she does have a secret - and Brae - and she’s not going to give either up willingly.

My Review:

4 Stars!

*I received a free e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

*I hate this rating system. With a perfect rating system, I would have given this book 3.75 stars. As it is, I had to choose between 3 or 4. This book was much better than three so I chose 4. I thought that Fire was really VERY imaginative. The characters and the history were so well thought out. However, there were a few things that held me back from wanting to give it a full 4 stars.*

In Fire, the world is divided into 4 realms. The Sephans who possess earthly powers. The Brizans who possess powers related to water. The Arcans who control the wind. And the Helians who have fire powers.

Brae is the Arcan prince. His father the king is dying. When the Helian king calls a political summit, inviting delegates from each realm, Brae is sent in his father's place. While in the Helian Realm, Brae befriends the Helian princess, Roxy. Roxy is a spunky, no nonsense kind o girl. I really wanted to dislike Roxy but it's impossible. The author makes it very easy to see that her character flaws are merely a product of her upbringing and geography.

Brae's best friend is Jasmine. She was found by the Arcan priest as a baby and raised as part of his family. she doesn't know anything about her biological parents or where she comes from or what kind of powers she will develop, if any. When Jasmine starts having dream visions about Brae being in danger she immediately finds a way to travel to the Helian Realm to warn him. I love this about her. As far as she's concerned, she has no powers and yet she still rushes into danger to save her friend.

Throughout the book the author treats to a few twists and surprises, that if you're anything like me, you didn't see coming. I loved the way that Jasmine and Roxy's characters were built up and the way they grew and changed during the story. The storyline was pretty fast paced and it's very easy to get lost in this story and come to halfway through with the book. It's a very fast and enjoyable read.

With that being said, there were a few little things that I didn't LOVE about this book. Not to say that I didn't really enjoy the book because I did, I just think that these are worth a mention because they kept me from wanting to give the book a full 4 stars.

1) In the beginning, the alternating POVs were really confusing. I think longer chapters or maybe more chapters in between the switches may have cleared that up. This really was a whole new world that the author invented with so much for the reader to learn and keep track of. It was just a little much in the beginning.

2) Another thing was the relationship between Roxy and Brae. I loved where it went, I just didn't feel like there was enough build up. It seemed like in one chapter she hated him and wanted him dead and in the next chapter she had suddenly developed these very strong feelings for him. It didn't take away from the story, it just seemed a little fast and it left me wondering when her feelings had changed and what had caused the change.

3)Last...What was Jasmine thinking there at the end?!! I understand why she made the choice that she did (I may even have made the same choice in her place) but I so wish it could have ended a different way. I wanted her to be a better person. A stronger person. A less selfish person. I don't know. But at the same time, I recognize that this ending is making me anticipate the next book that much more.

I can't wait to see where Heather James takes this series. I can't wait to see what happens next with Brae and Jasmine and Roxy and their friends. Really cool first book!
